The Community Builder Award was designed by the Grand Lodge Of Texas to enable local masonic lodges to recognize outstanding non-masons who have distinguished themselves through their service to the Community, Government, Church/Synagogue, or to Humanity. It seeks out those men and women who, year in and year out quietly and without fanfare show devotion to their community and its people without the expectation of recognition.

Jim  N  Ed's
Morning Study

Brethren, if you are looking for a place to go to study your work, study for a certificate examination, brush up on all facets of the work (including lectures and burial services), learn the floor work, converse with other brethren, or just sit down in the quietness of the lodge and read one of the many books in our library, this is the place for you.  This is a really good way for candidates who are having a hard time getting with their instructor, to learn their work.  Jimmy and Ed are both Certificate holders and are excellent instructors.  If someone desires to learn the lectures, or a burial service, give them a call, and an instructor will be made available.  Jim and Ed are available every morning, Monday - Friday, at Pasadena Lodge No. 1155, from 08:00 AM - 10:00 AM.  To contact them, give them a call  at the lodge---713-472-1155.  They look forward to seeing you.

[Grand Lodge of Texas - Grand Secretary's Electronic Messages] Grand Secretary's Monthly Communication - 15 May 2012

The Grand Secretary’s Office continues to receive queries about
implementing Article 276a and the installation of officers. Lodges must
comply with the revised Article and if they cannot find a member who
qualifies, the currently installed officer is held over in the office.

GRAND MASTER’S NOTICE TO WORSHIPFUL MASTERS AND SECRETARYS:

After the adoption of the Grand Master’s recommendation regarding Article 276a in which now both Wardens in addition to the Worshipful Master must comply to the rules that (1) they shall be proficient to properly open and close the EA, FC, MM and MM Lodge of Sorrow in the manner prescribed by the Committee on Work and approved by the Grand Lodge.  The alternative to this requirement is only if the member has a current A, B or C certificate
from the Committee on Work.  (2) To the satisfaction of the members of his lodge, he shall have completed a Grand Lodge approved course in the administration of his duties or the Lodge Instruction for Effectiveness
program (L.I.F.E.) under the supervision of the Masonic Education and Service Committee.  The L.I.F.E. program is to be administered by a Lodge Counselor appointed by the Worshipful Master.  The only alternative to this
requirement is having attended a Wardens Retreat and that a copy of the Diploma is to be attached to the Form 101 which is completed by the Lodge secretary. Questions are already arising about this subject and I strongly urge
Lodges to satisfy these requirements at least one month in advance of the installation date.  No Wardens Retreats are scheduled in 2012 until after Lodge installations. I further suggest that all Lodges make their members aware that the 2012 Wardens Retreats will be as follows:
August, 3, 4 and 5th,  Houston (Arabia Shrine Temple)
August 10, 11 and 12th, Dallas (Hella Shrine Temple)
August 24, 25 and 26th. Corpus Christi at the Radisson Beachfront Hotel.

James F. Brumit
